About Me
Hi, I'm Claire! I'm a high school student passionate about neuroscience, neurobiology research, and education. Both in and out of the lab, I am driven by my love for the arts. As a student filmmaker, I’m excited about bringing stories to life through a camera. Simultaneously, my passion for music as a pianist guides my creativity and curiosity in all things research and film production.
I believe that incorporating creativity, art, and high-quality resources into STEM education is vital to informing and inspiring future scientists like myself. Through the short films and educational events of Synapse Studios, I hope to engage wider audiences in neuroscience topics and create a community for STEM education through the arts.
Filmmaker
I am dedicated to using film to communicate ideas, craft narratives, and give voices a platform. As a co-director of the Nueva Social Impact Filmmaking Club, I have produced short films and documentaries on social issues important to the Bay Area community and worked with local organizations and partners to bring awareness to social justice issues. In producing the films of Synapse Studios, I am constantly guided by what makes a good narrative and how to bridge impact and audience connection in my work.
Musician
I have been playing the piano for 11 years, and music has always been my biggest mode of expression, joy, and comfort. I am driven by the emotional connection I can draw with audiences when performing and the infinite stories I can tell through my instrument and artistic choices. Whether through performing for senior living facility residents weekly, chamber music ensembles, or community concerts, I have confidently seen how music can bring people together. Through Synapse Studios, I hope to inform wider audiences on the neurological power of music and present it as an oulet of expression and connection to others.
Scientist
I am an aspiring scientist passionate about molecular biology and neuroscience, and am guided by questions on neurological disease pathways, biotechnology techniques, and protocol design. Science is inherently interdisciplinary, and in my own work inside or outside of the lab, I constantly draw connections between my artistic passions, the scientific discovery process, and all subjects in between. I hope Synapse Studios can continue to develop and highlight these interdisciplinary spaces and engage wider communities in STEM learning.
